Latest Obsession: ClassPass + Studio Reviews

If you’ve been on my Instagram lately, you know I’ve been obsessed with ClassPass

If you’ve been on my Instagram lately, you know I’ve been obsessed with ClassPass…All I do is post stories about the new studios I try. Gotta let the people know!

First off, what is ClassPass?

“ClassPass is a membership program for fitness classes across multiple gyms and studios.” -Straight from CP.

Basically it gives you access to fitness studios in your area without having to buy multiple memberships to those studios. One pass, endless options.

Previously, I had a membership to Cyclebar spin studio & a gym membership at Crunch. I found myself not utilizing the amount of classes I was purchasing at Cyclebar. So, instead of spending so much money for one fitness studio that I wasn’t going to enough, I decided to try ClassPass. I wanted to try a bunch of the studios I had been seeing online and diversify my routine.

So far I have tried 6 different studios. Below is a little taste of each and my review:

I have been in love with Cyclebar since last June, right after I moved back to GA after college. I was instantly obsessed after my first class because of the vibe! The instructors are so fun, the music is great and the staff is so accommodating. I love taking my friends and (dragging) Patrick sometimes. Just your classic spin class, with an added arm song and awesome music. They have a ton of locations around the country so check them out for sure.

If you’ve never tried cycling, I’d highly suggest it. It is my go-to workout when I need to get my sweat on.

Pure Barre

I’d obviously heard about PB many many times but never actually took a class. Honestly, I thought it would be easy and not really challenge me. Yikes, I was wrong! Lifting 2 lb weights is easy until you do the same plus for 25 reps…I feel the burn. The classes are usually filled with young moms so I don’t find the studio intimidating, I kinda like that aspect!

If you want a really sweaty sesh, try something else. You’ll get a great toning workout in but not be dripping after.

OK… This has been my one bad experience through ClassPass. This was a suggested studio on CP because I entered that I enjoy barre & TRX. I signed up for the TRX class and unfortunately the whole experience was just off for me. I didn’t find the class challenging and the format was just strange so it felt weird the whole time and couldn’t get a good workout in… On to the next!

OMG I’m obsessed! Forme is a barre-like studio with cardio dance elements incorporated. I enjoy FORME over a Pure Barre style class, although they are very similar, because FORME has amazing music and fun cardio bursts that really get me sweaty.

Every instructor I have tried is SO fun and I end up chatting with them after class, which I love. The instructors really make the experience at fitness studios and that is definitely the case here!

Stellar Bodies

Admittedly, I found out about the Stellar brand from their Instagram…talk about Insta goals. Then, I knew I had to try it out when I found out my fav instructor at Cyclebar, Katie, taught there too!

Stellar is a pilates & strength class that uses the Megaformer. So, you have to engage your abs at all times even if you are doing legs or you’ll literally fall off. I’m always super focused because I don’t want to embarrass myself and fly off in front of everyone, HA!

This class is by no means easy but the instructors are great about giving modifications- which, at this time, I always take. This class is different from anything I have EVER done and that’s why I enjoy it so much. It not only challenges my body (talk about the shakes) but my mind as well because all the moves are new.

Fit9 is the sister studio to Stellar, so I had to give it a whirl. I went for the first time a while ago with The Fit Atlanta. The class is broken up into 4 parts: Skillmill HIIT circuits, weight training, Skillmill skills (lateral jumps, sled push) and boxing! The Skillmill is a curved treadmill and the speed is all dependent on you. If you run faster the machine moves to your speed. It is definitely tricky at first because you feel like you’re a little out of control, but I got the hang of it after my first class.

Fit9 is one of my favs because it’s broken up which makes the time go by fast and its easier to push myself for 15 minutes in each section then for 60 minutes straight. I get a burst of motivation when we change activities!

If you want to try ClassPass use my link for $40 off your first month! Let me know what fitness studios you love and which I should try next!

Happy & Healthy Wedding Prep Tips

How I stayed happy & healthy while wedding planning.

Processed with VSCO with g3 preset

So, if you don’t know…I’m getting married March 10! As we are winding down the wedding planning and the day approaches, I wanted to reflect on the engagement season and share how I stayed happy & healthy.

One thing that I purposely committed to while planning our wedding was to not be a Bridezilla. Is there anything worse?

OK- Truthfully, I had one moment where I freaked out, but only one, I feel like thats pretty good! (Sorry, Patrick)

Here are some of my tips that really kept me grounded and feeling great during planning:

The To-Do List

The one thing that has helped me the most is my master to-do list. I have it broken down by month. So, from the month we got engaged (April) all the way through March, everything is broken down by the month. I got so detailed that I put in which month I needed to buy my shoes and order table numbers! You might think this is overboard  but this has helped me keep the stress level to a minimum. I did not look ahead, I kept up with the current month, which kept the planning seem more reasonable.

Saying “No” To Crash Diets

Yes, I’m trying to tone up a little bit and reduce bloat leading up to the big day but, I am not trying to drop 15 pounds in the next month. Plus, when has that ever worked anyways?

I’m on a workout plan for the gym and have been upping my trips to fitness classes as well. Although, I’m trying not to stress too much about this. I love the way I look in my dress and don’t see the need in crash dieting. I know I’m never going to be a size 2, so I’m working with what I’ve got!

Asking For Help

Remember that to-do list I mentioned? Yeah, it’s really long! I have been leaning on those around me for help, which has helped my stress levels so much. One big thing here is that you really have to trust them and not micromanage. Relax, if your mom can make an appointment of 2 for you, thats one small thing off of your plate, enjoy it!

Quality Time With The Groom

I have really been trying to not make every conversation with Patrick around the wedding. Although, I totally could. At the end of the day, the wedding is not about the flowers or the cake, it’s about a relationship, so we have been trying to focus on that.

I hope these tips can help all the brides out there of if you’re planning any sort of event. Finals words- Take a chill pill!!! Relax, everything is going to come together.

Have any other tips for me? Leave them in the comments!

Being Authentic

Being someone else is SO boring.

Being someone else is SO boring.

Sometimes we all fall into the trap of changing ourselves to be like those around us to fit in.

Who in their right mind wants to be just like everyone else? God, it’s so BORING! Personally, I don’t want to wear the same $100 top as everyone else just because it’s the newest thing that will make other girls “like” me.

Although, hindsight is 20/20. We’ve all been there. Luckily, I have found some friends along the way that showed me it’s ok to truly express myself and that those are the type of people you actually want in your life. And I hope I can do that for you too.

Your “cool factor” does not depend on what you wear, how you look or how many Instagram followers you have. What is something that you love about yourself even if it’s not “cool” to some people? Do you love to paint? Love to thrift? Find something about yourself that is unique and embrace it!

Fitting in is so overrated.

What’s Up With Collagen?

2018 is the year of collagen and skin care. Also- I’m hosting a giveaway on my Instagram right now!

2018 is the year of collagen and skin care. At least for me anyways!

You’ve probably seen SO many Instagram posts with Vital Proteins. To be honest that’s what made me look into it.

So, here’s what you need to know:

Hair, Skin, Nails Collagen helps improve skin elasticity. AKA wrinkles! I have noticed my skin become more plump with less fine lines after using collagen consistently for the past few months.

Digestion This is an issue I’ve been dealing with for the past few years. Collagen helps to heal your gut’s lining and to absorb water which keeps things moving more efficiently. Digestion is honestly the key to life and if this is off, your whole life is off, trust me!

Joint Health I’ve never really struggled with this but if you do, collagen can help lubricate your joints, reducing pain. Think oiling a creaky door hinge.

My favorite brand is Vital Proteins. Specifically, their collagen peptides. I’ve tried the creamer which was delish, but for the money I’d rather have the regular peptides so I can mix it in anything. Plus, 10g of protein in one scoop! (Not sponsored..but I wish LOL)

P.S. You literally CANNOT taste them and they mix in completely. No grittiness!!

Holistic Winter Remedies

I swear I’ve never seen this many people get sick. Here are some of my fav holistic Winter remedies.

I swear I’ve never seen this many people get sick. This Winter has been so insane and almost everyone I know, including myself, has been affected.

Like I mentioned in my previous post, I have been trying to incorporate more holistic and natural remedies into my life and my recent cold has been no acceptation.

Thanks to my wellness BFF, Abigail , I got some great recommendations for how to beat my cold naturally. Also, all the products I used are linked below and can be found on iHerb or your local health food store.

To my surprise, apparently a lot of people use this to beat a cold. I picked it up at my local grocery store, Sprouts. Echinacea is widely used to combat flu and cold symptoms. I took 3 capsules in the morning for about a week and since then I have been symptom free! This was the main medication I chose to help beat my cold, they really did the trick.

These I found after doing a little research I found out about these as an alternative to traditional throat lozenges, plus they have Zinc. Elderberry is known to help combat the flu and boost your immune system. I have one in the morning with breakfast.

Vitamin C

Hello! Remember your mom telling you to drink orange juice when you were sick? I know mine did…hi mom!

Now that I’m older and want a more concentrated dose of vitamin C (plus no sugar from juice), I take vitamin C pills or Emergen C. Start incorporating  this right when you start to feel slightly off because supplementing with vitamin C while you are sick will have less of an effect.

Using holistic and natural remedies, without synthetic ingredients, will help your bodies natural “cold-fighting” processes function more affectively. Plus, no harmful side effects either. Of course, there is a time an a place for a Z-pack but I highly recommend at least trying some of these more natural remedies.

Let me know in the comments if you use any natural products that I should try!

Reflection on 22

I just turned 23 and I’m pumped! I am one of those people who loves getting older because I know life is going to keep on getting better every year!

Ok, you might think this is cheesy but I kinda love these posts. I just turned 23 and I’m pumped! I am one of those people who loves getting older because I know life is going to keep on getting better every year!

I wanted to reflect on this past year, conveniently my birthday is in January so it’s kinda a 2- for-1.

Here are some big lessons I’ve learned in the past year:

  1. Fuel Your Passion
    • This blog and my Instagram have been a huge outlet for me this past year. My current 9-5 job is not very creative so having these places for me to express myself are great for my sanity.
  2. Be Grateful
    • After college you are truly on your own. Up until then everyone your same age  is literally doing the same thing and are on the same playing field. After you’re done with school it’s a free for all. I am so grateful for everything I have so far in life and I make time to reflect on those things. Being grateful helps with jealousy and feeling like you never have enough…been there!
  3. Life Moves Fast
    • God damn, where did 2017 go…? After graduation in May I swear I blinked and it was Christmas.  I tired and take a lot of pictures just to remind me of all the great things throughout the year( I put some highlights below!). Because life keeps moving faster I’ve learned to disconnect sometimes and really take in the moment.
  4. Traveling is the Bomb
    • I took a few trips this past year and I learned that it is totally worth the money. It’s so easy to get caught up in the day-to-day routing but it’s so fun to switch it up and experience new things. I’m learning to say “yes” more!
  5. Holistic Treatments
    • This past year I have learned so much about holistic skin care and natural remedies. At 22 some might not think skin care is important but I’m all about preventative measures and doing that with natural products is so important. I will continue to incorporate more holistic treatments as time goes on.

We All Screw Up

Everyone always says, ‘Keep up with your routine in December.” I’m here to admit…that’s really hard.

Hi. You probably forgot I had a blog…I did too. So, it’s been a while but I’m glad you’re back.

Everyone always says, ‘Keep up with your routine in December.”

I’m here to admit…that’s really hard.

My holiday days off of work consisted in a lot of Netflix, hanging with my family and just not doing much. I did not go to the gym 4X a week, skip desserts or keep up with my blog. I might not be the next big thing because of it, but it’s ok to mess up sometimes.

I’m a fan of goal setting in general so one of my New Year’s Resolutions is to be more consistent on the blog.
