This idea of Spring cleaning came to me a few days ago when going through my closet and thinking, ‘I never wear any of this. Why am I keeping it?’ So I started making my Goodwill pile and dubbed it “Spring Cleaning”
I’m sure when you think “Spring Cleaning” the first thing that pops into your mind is about tidying up your house or donating old clothes. The usual. This year I’m thinking about Spring Cleaning in a more holistic way.
Along with throwing away junk and donating unworn items- I’m getting rid of the negativity that consumes my mind. Who’s with me?
Here are some ways I intend to do that:
Start everyday on a positive note. Now- I do not think it’s reasonable for me to write a full gratitude list every morning, but I can say that I will begin my mornings with grateful thoughts.
‘I’m so grateful I got an extra hour of sleep. I’m happy I get to go to my favorite workout class this morning.’ Small thoughts like this add up and can shape your whole day.
Letting go of negative people in my life. The group of people you surround yourself with is so important. Think about it- If you’re surrounded with negative people, you start acting that way as well. Its such a downward spiral!
To really disconnect yourself from negative people, it takes self awareness. Be aware of who you spend your time with.
Find something you love. This spring I’m going to explore some of my passions and really dive into them! Art, drawing, cooking and writing more (yay!) to name a few. When I spend my time doing things I enjoy, it helps my mental health so much!
Connect with a friend. Recently I reconnected with an old friend from high school. We had a great conversation and plan on renewing our friendship, so fun! It was so great to sit down and really have a deep conversation with another human being. I love connecting and opening up to friends, it really is one of the best feelings in life.
So, are you with me? Are you going to Spring Clean your life?
