Misery Loves Company, But So Does Everything Else

We’ve all heard the phrase “misery loves company.” Dang is this true. When ever I put out negative energy, that is all I seem to get back and those are the people I attract as well. When you really think about it, when you’re sad or down why would you want more of that in your life?

I heard the phrase “Misery loves company, but so does everything else” on a podcast recently and it really resonated with me, especially in this new phase in my life.

A couple of months ago I got engaged, graduated from college, moved to Atlanta and started a new job all in the span of about 2 months. Talk about huge changes! And so fast!

With all of that, right now it’s so important to me to only have people in my life that make me better & I genuinely want to be around.

Happiness loves company.

Encouragement loves company.

Genuine people & honest friends love company.

See what I mean?

So in building new friendships and meeting people in this new phase in my life it’s so important to remember what you put out is what you get back.

vibe

Yes, misery loves company but so does everything else. Your vibe attracts your tribe.

My Healthy Grocery Haul

A lot of you have been asking for a grocery list… so here ya go! It definitely changes every week depending on the recipes I’m going to make. Here’s what I got at the store this week that includes some staples!

Side note– I promise you, buying healthy groceries doesn’t have to break the bank. I am a coupon queen and don’t waste money on sugary snacks. Produce isn’t expensive either, let’s get that myth out of the way here…Just think, you could buy Oreo’s & Lay’s Chips for $6 or buy cauliflower, broccoli and some peppers for the same price.

Anyways, onto the haul!

Produce

*My favorite!

IMG_1150

  • Kombucha
    • If you need digestion help, kombucha is your bff!
  • Chilli paste & 1 lime

**Not pictured**

  • Chicken, pork loin and tuna
    • Not pictured because who wants to see a pic of raw chicken…?
  • Drinks
    • We always have sparkling water (mine) and coke zero (his)

I try to stick to real foods or simply processed packaged goods. It’s all about the ingredients! I’m obsessive about checking the ingredients in everything! You’d be surprised on how much fake stuff & added sugar is in everyday items. (There is added sugar in many common pasta sauces…what?!)

What’s on your grocery list that I need to add to mine?

20 Things You Might Not Know About Me

I’ve been so into sharing my health & wellness tips on the blog, just been totally inspired I thought I’d tell you guys little more about me to really get to know me better!

IMG_0841

Here are 20 fun things about me:

  1. I am a HUGE pug lover. I don’t know where the obsession came from, but one of my biggest dreams in life is to have a pug for my own! There are so many cute accounts I follow on Insta too, if you need recommendations just hit me up. *Stopped a random woman on the street for this photo*Processed with VSCO with a6 preset
  2. Cycling is my favorite workout. Just over a year and a half ago I took my first class! It’s the workout that gets me sweating the most, I’m literalllly drenched. After moving from college to ATL, I started going to Cyclebar! SO obsessed.
  3. Being a cycling instructor is my *secret* dream. Although, not so much of a secret anymore. I just have to figure out how they talk and ride at the same time first…
  4. My favorite ice cream is Publix chocolate yogurt. Even though I rarely treat myself to this, it will always be my all time favorite. I literally ate it every night as a child (and stained a lot of my clothes as well).
  5. I can easily entertain myself. Ever since I was a little kid, my mom will tell you, I could be left in a room alone with no toys and somehow just entertain myself for hours. I love to just break out in random characters and put on a show for whoever is around too!
  6. I’m a Capricorn to a T! Hardworking, type A tendencies, very good with self control, humorous, determined and headstrong. These can be my best qualities and my worst! I’m not big into astrology, but my sign is spot on.Processed with VSCO with g3 preset
  7. I don’t mind traffic. This is super random but it’s never really bothered me. I guess I just figure if there’s nothing I can do, I might as well not waste my energy on it.
  8. I love making people laugh. I form friendships based on if they understand my humor or not. HA! Plus, I’m constantly cracking myself up.
  9. My feet are ALWAYS freezing. Don’t know the reason, if anyone does please let me know!
  10. My go to Starbucks drink– A grande, almond milk latte (extra foam if I’m feeling extra). I try to avoid the added sugars & syrups just because who knows whats in that stuff.
  11. I danced for 12 years! From ages 3-15 I did almost every style out there. Ballet, tap, jam, lyrical, pointe, I even took a belly dancing class once! I’m so grateful for the skills dance gave me. I learned the importance of stretching, gained a respect for all types of music and figured out how to pick things up quickly and commit them to memory. Hopefully I’ll get back into a class soon.
  12. I worked in a pizza shop and a froyo place. These were not my best decisions health vise, but you do what you have to when you need the coin.
  13. My fav place to eat out is Whole Foods. It’s just the vibe, man! The hot food bar, the kombucha options, the people.
  14. Another note about food. I love to go to new restaurants. If Patrick and I ever go out I love to pick out a new place.
  15. Guy Fieri is my freaking king! I don’t know where or why this obsession started, but I just love him. Don’t question it.
  16. I’m obsessed with podcasts. Wake up, podcast. Go for a walk, podcast. Drive in the car, you get the point. I’m doing a full post on my favs soon!
  17. I’ve been to 6 countries. France (only the airport), Italy, Greece, Mexico, The Cayman Islands and Jamaica. My favs- Italy & The Cayman Islands. IMG_8294
  18. My favorite place to shop for clothing is Nordstrom.
  19. I’m a huge snacker. I don’t know if this is a bad thing, but I’ve ALWAYS been. My go to’s right now: Mary’s Gone Crackers, grapes, apples and almond butter, carrot sticks.
  20. I’m getting married in March! Maybe you guys new that already…But yeah I’m super excited!

Monday’s Don’t Have to Suck…I Promise

Mondays get a bad rap. If you’re reading this you probably hate them.

Processed with VSCO with g3 preset

Maybe I’m just a weirdo (once again) who goes against this “social norm.” I swear it’s been conditioned in us to just hate the word Monday. What did Monday ever do to you??

I get it, work probably sucks and weekends are your havens. But, like clock work, Sunday comes and everyone seems to get overwhelmed with anxiety about the coming day.

Personally, I’m not going to ruin a day with anxiety about something I can’t even control. Monday is going to come either way, I’m sorry to tell ya.

Mondays

Monday is just another day, stop dwelling on it!

Here are some tips to make your Monday’s just little brighter:

Prepare on Sunday

The worst part about Monday, to me, is feeling lost on what you need to get done during the week. Plan it out Sunday! Reduce that stress!

Make mornings awesome

What makes you get out of bed in the morning? What ever it is, CHERISH that thing Monday mornings! My smoothies & morning routine truly make me want to jump out of bed! What is that for you? Coffee, a morning show, working out, extra cuddles with your dog? If you don’t know what it is yet, thats ok! Find that thing!

Processed with VSCO with g3 preset*A breakfast I made for Patrick that got him right out of bed!!*

Schedule something fun

Make Monday’s the best day of your week by putting something on your calendar to look forward to. Maybe for you thats treating yourself to a manicure, grabbing lunch with a friend, or going to the movies with your partner. I love to go to a spin class with my fav instructor every Monday!

Remember it’s just another day

What’s so different about Monday’s? Yeah it’s not the weekend anymore, but if you dread going back to work or school that much, I think there is a bigger issue there. If you hate what you do everyday, start to make a change. And I know thats easier said then done but start making small changes to make that goal possible.

Try to remember:

Monday is just another day.

It’s all about your attitude and how you choose to feel that day.

Choose happiness and positivity.

Be in love with every moment of your life – regardless of which day of the week it is!

Hope this article gave you some ~positive vibes~ for the week ahead and your Mondays to come.

I Am So Over Everyone Glorifying Lazy Culture

If I see one more tweet like “Binge watching Netflix to avoid all responsibilities!!” I think I’m gonna scream! Why do people glorify these statements? I rather praise someone for making it to the gym after a long and stressful day at work. But I guess that’s not so #relatable…

Processed with VSCO with g3 preset

It makes me sad to see people wasting hours of their days on mindless things and then later complaining about how stressed they are because of their mile long to-do lists.

I get a lot of questions on how I find the time to workout, cook, have a full time job, blog and be in a relationship. Well I have the answer people…

Utilize your time wisely.

24 hours

Sorry to be basic with the quote (yet again) but it’s true! My life shifted when I got off my ass and started using all of my time productively.

Ask yourself-– What are you getting done before work? What about after? Are you wasting your weekends by “recovering” from the stressful week you just had? Do you feel like you have no time for your passions?

These are hard questions to answer, especially after we recognize how much time we are wasting by avoiding all responsibilities.

Personally I do a couple things everyday to optimize my time.

Workout before work

Get it in before the sun comes up! You’ll have one HUGE task checked off your to-do list before you even really begin the day. Stop complaining about waking up early and just do it already.

Prioritize your day

One of the best pieces of advice I ever got was to stop making my to-do list so damn long! I used to just write down everything and try to do it all in one day. Of course I couldn’t do it… who could?! This left me feeling anxious and like I didn’t get anything accomplished. It’s more important for your mental health and productivity to focus on a few things.

Lunch and learn

I try to listen to podcasts during my lunch break. This is a time for me to disconnect from work and learn a thing or two as well. Productivity at it’s finest, ladies.

Get it in after work

The worst thing you can do is come home from work and just plop onto the couch. (Trust me I know it’s tempting.) Use this time to work on your side hustle, spend quality time with your partner, or get the chores done that you’ve been avoiding for a week. I love to plan out my nights so I can resist the urge to fall down the Netflix trap.

Use your weekends wisely

Stress has such a tight grip on all of us, so weekends should be for relaxing! I also set aside time to get ahead of the week. For me, I get some housework done, grocery shop, meal prep and work on the blog. It’s all about finding the balance that works right for you.

I hope these tips will help you to find more time in your day for your passions and motivate you to be more productive! Let’s end this trend of glorifying laziness and get productive!
